Construction of Green Building, Lahore

The Environment Protection Department is executing the World Bank-funded Punjab Green Development Program (PGDP). The development objective of this program is to support the provincial authority’s efforts to strengthen environmental management and mainstream growth in the province. One of the components of this program is the design and construction of a state-of-the-art Green Building. The building will house the Environment Protection Department, Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Monitoring Center, and allied bodies.

IDAP shall be constructing this LEED Certified Gold Standard Green Building in Gulberg II, Lahore on a land area of 5 Kanals with a total covered area of 99,415 sq. ft. The project aims to ensure a minimum negative impact on the environment by the construction and operation of the building. This building will set an example for the future construction of government building standards. The green building will follow the following project objectives:

  • Developing a building with energy-saving through green building concepts.
  • Reduce waste.
  • Reduce water usage compared to traditional office building usage.
  • Provide a sound working environment for its employees where hygiene and proper cleanliness help boost productivity.
  • Reduce the operating costs.
  • Reduce resource utilization in terms of electricity.
  • Reducing emissions of greenhouse gases
